Gerard Lighting’s LED downlight has been released under the Pierlite brand as ‘Starburst’ and under the Crompton brand as ‘XL LED’.
The 15 W LED light is claimed to reduce electricity costs by 70% while delivering nearly the same light output as 50 W halogen downlights. Its operating life is claimed to be up to 60,000 h, providing even greater savings in less lamp replacement.
The LED light itself draws 12 W, while the driver in the ceiling draws another 3 W. The fitting features managed heat generation in the roof space to ensure long life.
A key consideration in the design of the fitting was to ensure the components were compatible with the tools of Australia’s electrical installers.
