The RCD series constant current LED drivers, manufactured by Recom, have been extended to provide up to 1200 mA to power the next generation of high-brightness LEDs.
The RCD-24-1.0 and RCD-24-1.2 DC/DC converters deliver a stable maximum current of 1 or 1.2 A respectively from a wide input voltage range of between 5 and 36 VDC. The modules are complete plug-and-play units requiring no external components.
The series have two independent dimming inputs: a PWM control that allows simple interfacing with digital controllers and an analog voltage input which is suitable for lighting controllers or rheostat dimmers. Both inputs are linear and the dimming range covers 0-100%.
The feedback control circuit of the drivers ensures reliable load and current regulation, resulting in a claimed LED current stability of ±1%, a residual output ripple of less than 200 mV and efficiencies of up to 96%. The drivers also feature short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown.
