The GA911i energy-efficient lamp is a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) designed to be a straight replacement for the common incandescent lamp.
‘Ingenium’ technology is deployed in the lamp to generate greater light output from less electricity than other forms of traditional lighting, while providing a longer lamp life (15,000 h average life compared to 1000 h for incandescents).
Environmental factors were key in the design and construction of the lamp. For example, amalgam mercury is used in the tube rather than liquid mercury, commonly used in CFLs, to reduce leakage from broken spent lamps in landfill. The lamp base is made from recyclable plastic and the bulb is made from silicone to protect against injury from broken glass.
The standard format lamp is dimmable, while a ‘DoRS’ version with built-in four-step dimmer that works on conventional switches is also available.
