Eaton Industries Intelligent Power Software

Intelligent Power Software provides enhanced monitoring and management of servers and virtual machines within VMware’s vSphere5 application for virtualised environments.

VMware’s vSphere 5 supports virtual machines that are up to four times more powerful than previous versions - virtual machines can now be configured with up to 1 TB of memory and 32 virtual CPUs.

When power is compromised, Intelligent Power Manager, which installs directly on VMware’s vCenter, can automatically initiate virtual machine migration from a server facing power disruption to a safe server. Additionally, it can manage the graceful shutdown of each and every host server from the vCenter vantage point, negating the need for a shutdown agent installation on each production server. This, in turn, also yields the benefit of server shut down in clusters.

Alternatively, users can still allow Intelligent Power Protector, which installs on each server (up through ESXi5.0) in the traditional way, to gracefully shut down virtual machines, physical servers and network devices powered by an Eaton UPS, saving all work-in-progress and ensuring data integrity.
