Eaton has launched Eaton 5PX, a line-interactive UPS that meters the energy consumption of every device protected by the UPS. The 5PX has a large, intuitive LCD and features power factor of 0.9. As a successor to Eaton Evolution S, this next-generation UPS, with a power range of 1.5 to 3 kVA, continues to offer high-density protection for IT devices such as servers, switchers, routers and storage devices.
Battery life is a major contributor to the UPS’s performance. Compared to Evolution S, the 5PX’s reliability has been improved by applying Eaton’s ABM technology. The ABM is a battery-charging method that allows the batteries to rest between charging cycles. This extends battery life considerably, which decreases the maintenance costs due to the prolonged service and replacement cycle.
