Adelaide Entertainment Centre goes solar

Enphase Energy has completed a microinverter installation at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, through its installation partner, Absolute Solar & Electrical.

Enphase utilised M215 microinverters for a 100 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic system that will provide power for a significant portion of the venue’s requirements. In order to reduce its reliance on expensive electricity from the grid and to minimise its carbon footprint, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre turned to solar. The centre has a capacity for 12,000 people at its multifacility arena and theatre. The arena stages major headline music concerts, musicals, theatre, ballet, comedy, family entertainment, sporting and motorsport spectaculars, trade shows, exhibitions and conferences.

Enphase worked closely with Absolute Solar & Electrical to design a system with maximum production capabilities, meeting all project requirements to deliver a good solar system for the venue. Before Enphase microinverters go on sale, they undergo rigorous testing. “Each microinverter family passes one million hours of power-on testing prior to release,” said Nathan Dunn, Asia-Pacific managing director of Enphase Energy.

“The size of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre may seem daunting for the installation of a solar system. However, we were able to fit all the panels on one roof with the support and advice of Enphase, who were exceptional partners from the start to the delivery of the project,” said Matt Teague, director of operations at Absolute Solar & Electrical.

“It was critical for us to have everything planned and executed with precision for this installation. Not only was it a government contract, we had to look for ways to minimise disruption to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre’s operations as well,” Teague added.
