Power worker dies from electric shock
A linesman died recently, four days after receiving an electric shock at Croydon in Melbourne’s outer east.
WorkSafe Victoria believes the man came into contact with live infrastructure.
The case marks the second death this year in the power supply sector. The first was in April when a linesman was electrocuted at Mornington.
Several other people have also suffered major electric shocks in other sectors.
The director of WorkSafe’s Construction and Utilities Division, Chris Webb, said the incident should prompt a review of work practices and act as a warning to employers of all types.
