ICT analyst Ovum recently published the results of a 14-country assessment of broadband deployments and drivers in Asia-Pacific conducted by Ovum and FTTH Council, with a specific focus on FTTx, based on interviews with major carriers in Australia, New Zealand and several Asian countries.

The report reveals factors contributing to FTTx expansion include national broadband initiatives, inter-carrier competition and delivery of basic broadband services. The report gives an in-depth analysis of the 14 countries, including the number of broadband subscribers by technology, broadband household penetration, key deployment drivers, major government and industry initiatives, regulatory issues and timelines for FTTx deployment.
