FLIR Systems infrared inspection windows

Wednesday, 18 April, 2012 | Supplied by: Teledyne FLIR

The latest IR window range has been designed to reduce vast majority of arc flash triggers. The windows are compatible for all thermal cameras and meet end application safety requirements for medium and high voltage switchgear (above 600 V).

The windows have a secure, permanently-hinged cover, that is easily opened with one hand, and the broadband crystal lens allows cameras to capture visible light pictures as well as thermal images. It also allows LED and laser illumination to pass straight through for clearer visual assessments. The lens is encased in a rugged, anodised aluminium frame that allows indoor and outdoor scans.

Easy to install, the windows use the same design as common conduit connections, with only one hole required for each window and one PIRma-Lock ring nut to tighten. Standard punch tools (2, 3 or 4”) can be used for hole knockouts.

The windows enable assessments within NFPA 70E guidelines, requiring only one person, rather than three, to carry out the inspection. They meet UL, KEMA and TUV standards and ratings.
