The Omicron CP CU1 Multi-purpose Coupling Unit for the CPC 100 measures line impedances, k-factors, mutual coupling and coupling of power lines into signal cables. The CP CU1 component eliminates the need for large, high-powered equipment normally used to conduct these measurements, overcoming the problem of power system frequency interference.
Operator safety is a key factor when using the CP CU1 coupling unit to connect the inputs and outputs of the CPC 100 to the transmission line with built-in coupling transformers. Distance relay settings are ensured by measuring the fault-loop impedance rather than using the results of a systems study.
The unit meets international standards including DIN VDE 0101, CENELEC HD637S1, IEEE Std 80-2000 and IEEE Std 81-1983. The CP CU1 also features automatic logging.
