The Megger TORKEL 860 is designed for assessing battery systems that provide standby power in transformer substations and power plants. It is available to rent from TechRentals.
The battery load unit conducts discharge tests on battery systems from 12 to 480 V in order to determine system capacity. Discharge can take place at up to 110 A (15 kW maximum power) while being controlled from a PC, and without the need for disconnection. Tests can be programmed for constant current, constant power and constant resistance or, alternatively, to user-defined load profiles. The unit also features an external measurement input and has the ability to increase the load current by linking multiple units together or utilising an extra load unit.
Features include: battery testing ‘in service’; unit adjusts to include load currents in the test parameters; user-adjustable alarm and shutdown points to avoid excessive discharge; view test parameters/results in real time as testing progresses using TORKEL WIN software.
