Scania truck potential safety issue

Tuesday, 22 March, 2016

Scania Australia advises that certain trucks in the R series may feature backrests that have been supplied with lower durability due to a deviation in the processes of their supplier.

This could cause occupants of the vehicle to be insufficiently restrained during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Affected vehicles carry the following chassis serial numbers: 5396706, 5396743, 5396757, 5396762, 9199697, 9199720, 9199730, 9199735, 9199745, 9199762, 9199781.

The product was sold nationally from Scania branches and dealers. Customers should contact Scania via the website to arrange a replacement of the part at no charge.
