Safety alert Ford MY14–15, F250-350 trucks

Wednesday, 24 August, 2016

A safety alert has been issued on Ford MY14 and MY15 F250 and F350 trucks fitted with a specific steering box (specific steering box Performax Part Number 1000283-1). Through normal wear and tear, some vehicles may develop a condition in which contact between the steering knuckle and the steering stop occurs.

If this condition is evident over prolonged periods of time, under full lock in a car park-type situation, this might cause excessive strain on the tie rod ends and potential failure to this part, causing a loss of steering.

Affected vehicles were sold nationally via Performax International and its dealer network. A full VIN list is available here. If you believe your vehicle to be affected, you’ll need to contact Performax or an official dealer to arrange rectification.
