Wednesday, 07 January, 2015

The Mental Health Recovery Institute is offering training seminars around Australia in February. The Mental Health First Aid Training series will help attendees learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of assistance has been shown by research to be effective.

The institute will provide all delegates with an evidence-based tool to assist adults in a number of crisis situations including:

  • Depression
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Severe drug and alcohol effects
  • Aggressive behaviour
  • Substance abuse
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

The course is 12 hours in duration, delivered as a two-day training package. A manual is provided to each participant, as is a range of useful mental health resources.
