Australian companies that take part in National Safe Work Month this October could receive a reward worth $5000 from Safe Work Australia (SWA) for their troubles.

SWA is calling for submissions to the Workplace Participation Reward, which highlights work health and safety initiatives that make workplaces safer. The organisation whose entry displays the most outstanding spirit, participation, creativity and sustainability during National Safe Work Month will receive a prize pack valued at up to $5000 and the opportunity to share its safety story nationally.

Interested parties should peruse case studies from previous participants using this link, as well as subscribing to the National Safe Work Month service to receive news and email updates. SWA has developed a resource kit to help businesses get started, which includes:

  • digital banners to help spread the word across online channels
  • suggestions for workplace activities
  • a fact-or-fiction quiz to test work health and safety and knowledge
  • suggested social media posts
  • messages to share with staff.
