Treotham Automation igus E4.1 energy chains

The igus E4.1 range of energy chains combines the designs of the E4/4 and E4/100 energy chain variants in one single universal solution, available in five different interior heights (21 to 80 mm) as well as widths from 30 to 600 mm.

Using a combination of inner and outer side-links, different configurations can be achieved. Turning the outer side-link controls the pretension, while turning the inner side-link changes the rotation of the link and, thus, the direction of rotation of the energy chain. This makes applications such as ‘zigzag’ possible, for example.

The sides of the energy chain are connected through a ‘tongue and groove’ connection to increase stability in both the pull and push directions and to increase torsional stability of the energy chain.

The standard E4.1 version has a noise-dampening stop system with an internal ‘brake<0x2019. If even quieter noise levels are required, the outer radius of the energy chains can be equipped with additional sound-reducing pads which make quiet rolling possible.

Special models in the range include cleanroom, ESD and fire-protection and chemical-resistance classified versions. When equipped with lids and made of the high-temperature material ‘igumid HT’, it is claimed the chain can withstand attacks by chips heated to 850°C.
