Surge arrestor

The PU I series of Class I overvoltage protectors with varistor technology offers a discharge capacity of 12.5 kA (10/350 µs). The pluggable, self-monitoring surge voltage arresters are optionally available as 1-, 3- or 4-pole versions and with optional remote signalling contacts.

The devices can be rotated through 180° to simplify installation to the RCD device with cross-connecting combs, which facilitates short-length PE connections.

The devices feature a colour-coding system that indicates ‘degradation’ of the surge arrester. The surge voltage arresters are suitable for different earthing systems (TN/TT) and are tested to IEC 61643-1 and EN61643-11. Designed for use in buildings classified in lightning protection zones III/IV, the devices are simple to install in sub-distribution boards and electrical cabinets.

The device doesn’t require decoupling to the following Class II and Class III arresters, which is a cost-saving benefit. With its low residual voltage of less than 1.3 kV, it can also be utilised for Class II overvoltage protection.

All of the devices in the range are suitable for use in buildings classified in lightning protection zones III/IV eg, in hotels, libraries or public swimming pools.
