Reeling energy cables

The Buflex range of polyurethane sheathed reeling energy cables has been expanded with the addition of the X’Prem cable, designed to boost the performance and durability of cranes operating at high speeds of up to 150 m/min in general industrial and port and terminal applications.

This new design is claimed to provide improvements in traction, durability and cable lifetime, without needing to increase its size. The thinner and lightweight polyurethane sheathed cable can offer similar performance as standard rubber sheathed reeling cables, but within a smaller overall diameter and enhanced abrasion resistance, enabling smaller motorised reels to be used to achieve equal productivity, possibly even with lower powered motors.

The cable is available in both a low-voltage yellow-sheathed version for applications up to 1 kV, such as in the general industrial crane market and a medium-voltage red- or black-sheathed version for applications from 6 to 20 kV such as in ports and terminals.

In addition, copper twisted-pair cables and optical fibres can be integrated within the cable to combine control solutions with the crane power supply.
