Phoenix Contact Solarcheck RSD photovoltaic panel shutdown

Monday, 19 September, 2016 | Supplied by: Phoenix Contact Pty Ltd

The intelligent Solarcheck RSD photovoltaic panel shutdown from Phoenix Contact independently puts photovoltaic rooftop systems into a safe state, protecting personnel from electric shock during installation and maintenance or in dangerous situations.

Photovoltaic rooftop systems generate DC voltages of up to 1000 V and cannot be disconnected easily on the DC side. This becomes very dangerous if the system is damaged and personnel are working inside.

The panel shutdown analyses the current and voltage conditions on the DC side of the system. Deviations from the normal state or shutdown of the inverter result in automatic shutdown of the photovoltaic panels. The system is restarted automatically when a technically safe environment is present. The Auto Rapid Shutdown technology is claimed to be more reliable and faster than any human assessment or manual intervention.

Solarcheck RSD consists of a central start unit per string and shutdown units that are installed directly on the respective photovoltaic panels. The system can be easily integrated into the existing panel cabling and does not have to be programmed or configured manually.
