High-power rectifier diodes

Tuesday, 01 July, 2008 | Supplied by: Westek Electronics Pty Ltd

The R700 and R701 rectifier diode series from Powerflex are designed for electrical installations in industrial high-current rectification applications such as welding, battery charging, electro-chemical refining and metal reduction.

The diode housing features a stud and flexible 245 mm long top lead, with stud top connections and flat flange bases available as options and compression-bonded encapsulation for low thermal resistance, low forward voltage drop and strong mechanical connection. The ceramic section of the diode body is claimed to provide good resistance to high-voltage creepage and strike paths.

The three current/voltage grades available for these diode rectifiers are 300, 450 and 550 A (average); 7, 8 and 10 kA half cycle surge; 1600, 2600 and 4400 V repetitive peak reverse voltage ratings respectively.

Both normal and reverse polarity diodes are available.
