DEHNguard M...CI surge arrester with backup fuse

The DEHNguard M...CI provides protection against overvoltages including short-circuit protection in a space-saving design of only one module per path.

The universally applicable surge arrester Type 2 consists of a base element and a plug-in protection module. The protection module includes both the actual surge arrester and an arrester backup fuse. The surge arrester with integrated backup fuse solves the problem of choosing the suitable backup fuse for surge protection, as the user no longer has to care about arrester-specific dimensioning requirements such as the consideration of short-circuit terms and impulse current carrying capacity.

The arrester backup fuse integrated in the protection module is coordinated to the necessary impulse current carrying capacity. Due to the thermodynamic control monitoring device, the surface temperature of the high-capacity varistor and the height of the discharge current is used for evaluation. The readiness for operation of each protective circuit is shown by the green and red marks of the visual indicator acting mechanically, free of operating currents.
