Caterpillar’s hybrid power systems for telecommunications applications are designed to reduce operating costs.

Features include: factory-built and factory-tested system; remote monitoring, control and alarms; multiple, small components operating in parallel to enhance reliability (PV charge controllers, rectifiers, solar panels); removal and replacement of major components without power interruption; vandal-resistant enclosures; AC convenience outlet for powering technician laptop computer; and auxiliary power outputs for utilisation of excess electricity produced by solar and wind.

These solutions incorporate components such as: solar photovoltaics (PV); wind turbines; robust long-life batteries; diesel or gas generator sets. These solutions are said to reduce fuel consumption and are suitable for applications in remote areas and can be customised to exact specifications.
