Biotemp is a natural ester-based fluid made from renewable vegetable-based oil that is claimed to offer environmental benefits, improved transformer performance and fire-resistant properties compared to traditional mineral oil dielectric fluids. Biotemp fluid is listed as a less flammable dielectric fluid by Factory Mutual (FM Global) and classified as a less hazardous dielectric medium in respect to fire hazard by Underwriters Laboratories.
It is suitable for environmentally sensitive locations, indoor substations and in tighter spaces outdoors without additional fire safety requirements.
