The Hirschmann BAT54-Rail WLAN industrial ethernet system is claimed to provide a seamless high-capacity extension to existing industrial LANs, with secure access to plant information anywhere in the factory.

The system features IP routing, PoE, low packet losses, a range of encryption, authentication and firewall capabilities (including rogue access point detection) to provide network security, redundant 24 VDC supply connections, redundant wireless connection using rapid spanning tree protocol and IP40-rating for tolerance to temperature, vibration, EMI and shock.

The system complies with 802.11b/g and 802.11a/h communications and has a dual band (2.4/5 GHz) facility that provides improved redundancy and range.

The system is DIN rail mountable and accommodates up to eight virtual WLANS to provide authenticated and segregated access to different user groups.

The system is claimed to be suited to out-of-the-box or highly customised configurations.

An optional IP65 external mount option with in-built antenna and lightning protection is also available, along with two additional antenna connections for remote installations.
