LG has released the Multi V IV heat pump 460 V variable refrigerant flow (VRF) solution. The model offers coefficient of performance (COP) of 4.34, made possible by LG's technologies. These include high-pressure oil return (HiPORTM), which minimises compressor energy wastage, and the variable heat exchanger circuit, which selects the optimal paths for both heating and cooling.

The solution features LG’s fourth-generation inverter compressor - the high-side shell (HSS) scroll inverter - and a BLDC-type motor coil, and minimises energy loss under part-load conditions. It is also able to offer a 30% improvement in integrated part-load energy efficiency, as well as an increased COP in cooling operation by 10%.

The outdoor unit’s efficient inverter compressors provide an even wider operational range of 15 to 150 Hz, allowing the outdoor unit to deliver responsive and efficient cooling and heating. An increased number of valves in the compressors, from four to six, also allow a more meticulous control of the refrigerant in part-load condition, compared to conventional models with just four bypass valves.

The smart control system allows users to remotely monitor and adjust settings via a smartphone or computer. The series also supports system piping up to 1000 m in length, and to a height of 110 m between the indoor and outdoor units. The unit is said to be 28% lighter than the conventional model - this makes installation easier and exerts fewer loads on the building structure.
