Cylindrical presence sensors

The Allen-Bradley 42CA Series C range of 18 mm cylindrical photoelectric sensors has been improved and expanded, now featuring 0.5 and 1 ms response times, which makes them suitable for general-purpose and high-speed applications in the packaging, assembly and materials handling industries.

Five sensing modes are available in the range: enhanced models in transmitted beam, polarised retroflective, background suppression, standard diffuse and retroflective modes.

Two long-range models have also been added to the range: available in standard diffuse (1000 mm sensing range) and retroflective (7200 mm sensing range) modes. With a quick response time of 0.5 ms, these sensors are suitable for high-throughput production lines.

The sensors also incorporate improved visual diagnostics. Two LED indicators provide a straightforward visual, to rapidly identify the status of power, output, unstable operation and short-circuit protection.

A flat lens configuration acts to minimise particulate and dust accumulation and, with enclosures rated to IP67, the sensors are fully self-contained and durable.
