Switchboard inspection window

The Hawk IR Sightglass is a 75 mm diameter inspection window fitted to the door or inspection cover of electrical equipment. Infrared sight glasses allow for the safe visual and thermal inspection of internal electrical components without the need to open any enclosure.

Opening covers to scan electrical equipment introduces extreme risks for thermographers testing electrical equipment, such as arc-flash and electrocution.

The device can be permanently fitted to low to medium switchgear, transformer panels, motor lead boxes and MCC cell doors.

The range of arc-resistant IR sight glasses offers a solution to electrical testing requirements, while reducing labour costs and inspection times and dramatically improving safety.

It is claimed the device negates the need to remove doors or covers from enclosures to thermally test electrical equipment during predictive maintenance programs, which can expose personnel to potentially fatal risks.

The device is designed for long or shortwave infrared thermography and for installation in power systems operating at any voltage, in either indoor or outdoor situations. It utilises a broadband infrared transparent crystal that operates effectively with both long wave and shortwave cameras systems.

The device features CLIRVU coating for longevity and prevention of water absorption and is arc-resistant up to 50 kA.
