The Jackson Energy Saving Powerboard eliminates the consumption of standby power by appliances when they are not in use, thereby reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The device consists of a series of electrical sockets, a ‘master’ socket that is connected to four ‘slave’ sockets, and an additional socket that operates independently of the other sockets.
An appliance such as a computer is attached to the ‘master’ socket, so that when power to this appliance is turned on/off, the other four ‘slave’ sockets are simultaneously turned off/on. A sensor circuit detects the level of current passing through the main ‘master’ socket and switches the ‘slave’ sockets to the same status. This reduces the consumption of standby power used by equipment when not in use.
The device is designed for use with computer and audio systems and features surge and overload protection, with sockets spaced to accommodate large transformers.
