First Australian reclosers installed in Kharkiv
Australian switchgear manufacturer NOJA Power has installed its first batch of OSM Reclosers at KharkivOblEnergo, a major utility servicing Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.
The move follows an Australian Government aid commitment, announced earlier this year, to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with NOJA Power electrical equipment.
Ukraine’s medium-voltage distribution networks have faced severe disruption due to ongoing conflict, and this installation marks a significant step in restoring and modernising them. The work was carried out in collaboration with NOJA Power’s Ukrainian distributor, Recloser LLC, whose technical team provided onsite support and commissioning expertise.
The Australian-made OSM Reclosers are designed to automatically detect and isolate faults, significantly improving network resilience and reducing outage durations. This is essential in a region where rapid response to grid disturbances is critical.
“We are proud to see our equipment contributing to the rebuilding of Ukraine’s power infrastructure. The installation at KharkivOblEnergo is a testament to the strength of international cooperation and the resilience of the Ukrainian people,” said Neil O’Sullivan, Group Managing Director of NOJA Power.
The deployment follows earlier successful installations in other regions such as Chernihiv and Dnipro, where NOJA Power’s reclosers have already demonstrated their value in restoring power reliability.
With more units scheduled for delivery, NOJA Power continues to work closely with Ukrainian utilities to expand the reach of the aid initiative. The company said it remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s energy sector with robust, smart grid technologies that enable safer, more reliable electricity distribution.
