The 7 W MR16-style LED downlights (with Nichia 183 LEDs) are intended as low energy consumption alternatives to CFL and halogen lamps.
The LED lamps are available in both warm white (308 Lumens) and natural white (450 Lumens) and in two styles, one of which is 100% dimmable and a direct replacement for most halogen MR16-type lamps.
Compared to halogens, the LED lamps are claimed to have much lower running costs, emit far less heat and have 8-10 times longer lamp life.
The lamps are suitable for use in residential as well as heavy-use commercial installations such as hotels and retail stores.
