The Halogen Mitt is a halogen lighting kit that comprises a thermal shroud that covers the rear of a halogen light fitting and a 35 W high-efficiency halogen lamp.

The shroud, or cover, is manufactured from an intumescent material that gives it a two-hour fire rating (certified by CSIRO) and an insulation R-value of 0.514. Its design restricts airflow to ensure the installed light fitting doesn’t compromise the ceiling insulation (common problem with gimble fittings) and also prevents combustible materials and debris from coming into contact with the light fitting, while minimising sound transmission through the fitting (a common problem with two-storey installations).

The cover can be fitted in minutes from above or below the ceiling and also features a convenient transformer holder (iron core or electronic).

The 35 W lamp complements the thermal attributes of the cover by dissipating the heat it produces downwards rather than ventilating into the roof area. Its energy efficiency enables it to be used to replace existing standard 50 W halogen lamps, having the same light output.
