Eaton Industries SC200 V3 power system controller

The SC200 V3, from Eaton’s Smarter Energy range, is a power system controller for telecommunications network operators. It features automated, site energy-control options that could save energy costs with two site-programmable options that enhance network energy control.

Smart Alarms uses Boolean logic to control individual network sites automatically, across a range of site variables for optimised management for issues such as peak grid-power periods or cooling by automatically controlling non-critical loads and intelligent management of cooling to reduce overall energy use. Running an outdoor suburban power cabinet on low-noise mode at night or customising site alarms to match network management requirements are other examples.

The Eaton fuel saver (EFS) is designed for hybrid network sites using a diesel generator as backup to a poor AC grid supply or where the site runs entirely on generator, 24 hours a day, every day. EFS intelligently delays generator starts, first engaging the site’s battery bank to either bridge a grid power outage or delay the generator start for as long as possible, reducing diesel consumption, refuelling visits, generator wear and tear and servicing costs.
