Osram in control of Eurovision

This year's Eurovision Song Contest has given viewers the power to light up landmarks and living rooms in colours that indicate what they think of the current song.

Available only during the semifinals and finals, Stockholm landmarks including the event venue, Globe Arena, City Hall Tower and the television tower are bathed in coloured light that reflects the feelings of the audience. During the first minute of each song, viewers can use the LIGHTIFY@Eurovision app (or a dedicated page on the Osram website) to award between one and 12 points.

A song that fails to win favour generates a wave of blue light and a song that inspires turns landmarks bright red. Ratings are independent of the official telephone voting process.

Some of the lighted monuments and buildings can be seen on a live stream and viewers are also keeping track of ratings via live feedback on the app. For those that already have a multicoloured LED lamp Lightify smart system running in their homes, house lights change to reflect their own choices.

Eurovision semifinals are nearly done, with the final taking place this weekend on 14 May.
