Light bulb can last for 50 years

Signify has launched the new Philips Ultra Efficient range, which the company says consumes 60% less energy and offers huge reductions in material waste. With a projected life span of 50,000 hours, Philips’ Ultra Efficient LED globes are projected to keep working for as long as 50 years when used for almost three hours a day.

To celebrate the launch, Signify commissioned research into Australians’ attitudes towards chores. Changing the light bulbs made it onto the country’s top 10 most disliked household tasks — something that should make the new ultra long-lasting globes a welcome innovation.

The range reflects Philips’ stated commitment to sustainability, using new technology to cut carbon emissions, reduce material waste and lower energy usage. The research revealed that Australia’s appetite for sustainable energy is also growing, with eight in 10 (81%) Australians agreeing they are interested in more sustainable options when it comes to lighting solutions in their home.1

“Our passion for a better and more sustainable world pushed us to further innovate and increase the energy efficiency of our LED lighting. With this technological breakthrough, we created our most energy-efficient lamp in this shape yet, while maintaining the same high quality of LED lighting that our customers are used to,” said Michael Rombouts, Business Unit Leader LED Lamps and Luminaires at Signify.

The new Philips Ultra Efficient LED lightbulb range is available nationwide.
