Powered fibre can jump-start the IoT revolution
Supplied by TE Connectivity on Monday, 27 April, 2015
There will be an estimated 25 billion devices online by 2020 as the Internet of Things revolution takes off. Everything from CCTV cameras to home appliances to mobile small cells will be connected to the internet.
But when devices are located far from the nearest switch, in outdoor areas or on somebody else’s property, powering connected devices can be complicated, adding time and money to the installation process.
Powered fibre can deliver 25 W or more worth of power to an IoT device while overcoming the limitations of Power over Ethernet technology.
