Times Microwave Systems has introduced a range of data line surge protectors to its Times-Protect product family, including the LP-DOE-1G, LP-POE-1G and LP-PAE-100 models. The surge protection devices offer a good level of data integrity and overvoltage protection.

Proprietary circuitry results in surge let-through voltage on data lines of less than 20 V peak at 3 kA 8x20 µS surge test current and less than 10 V peak at 100 A 10x1000 µS surge test current, while complying with extended RFC2544 test methods for data integrity. These difficult tests are conducted on two protection devices separated by 100 m of Cat 5e cable over a broad temperature range measuring throughput, latency packet jitter, frame loss and back to back.

The LP-DOE-1G offers 1000 Base-T ethernet data only and is suitable for indoor applications, with all data pins protected to chassis ground. The LP-POE-1G offers 1000 Base-T Power over Ethernet (PoE) with up to 60 VDC injector and all pin pairs protected to chassis ground. In comparison, the LP-PAE-100 offers 100 Base-T power and ethernet with all pins protected to ground. With this model, data pin pairs are (1–2) (3–6) and DC pin pairs are (4–5) (7–8).
