Optical fibre splitter

Tuesday, 01 April, 2008 | Supplied by: CommScope Technologies Australia Pty Ltd

The OmniReach fibre-to-the-x (FTTX) product line has been expanded with the addition of the OmniReach 1 x 64 splitter, which allows carriers to double the number of customers served from a single splitter and reduce the feeder fibres needed for the network.

The splitter fits into a centralised splitting passive optical network (PON) architecture and is more cost effective for the growing number of service providers who are deploying GPON.

Designed for all indoor and outdoor applications in FTTX networks, the splitter is claimed to offer plug-and-play functionality with a design that reduces installation and customer turn-up time, resulting in lower operational expenses.

The module is designed to comply with international telecommunications standards and is compatible with the full OmniReach fibre distribution product line.
