Belden FiberExpress Brilliance field-installable fibre-optic connector

The FiberExpress Brilliance field-installable fibre-optic connectors enable fast, fool-proof and easy optical-fibre termination, with no termination tools required, typically in around five seconds.

Installers are able to re-terminate the connector up to five times to improve fibre termination yields and lower materials and installation costs.

The connector enables contractors to terminate a tight-buffered fibre in three simple steps - inserting prepared fibre into the connector, sliding the connector’s switch-like activator using the index finger toward the fibre to be terminated to bring about the splice/crimp and sliding the boot on the connector body for completion. A built-in activator tab performs the fibre splicing and crimping action in one motion.

Currently the connector is available for 900 micron LC (OM1, OM2, OM3 and OS2) terminations, with ST-compatible, SC, APC and jacketed versions introduced thereafter.

The connectors can be used for loose tube fibre installations with the addition of a breakout kit, so installers can achieve the same reliability and improved fibre yields as with tight-buffered terminations.

The connector can be used as a backbone, horizontal or fibre-to-the-desk (FTTD) component in any commercial building, government agency or data centre.
