The MFB range of standard S280 outdoor enclosures offers a variety of heights measured in rack units. Widths are typically 600 and 800 mm wide, and they come in a variety of depths. Fully welded enclosures provide greater IP (Ingress Protection) attributes. Typically, these types of enclosures are for outdoor applications.
The enclosures are minimum IP54 and externally certified to IP66, and MFB can customise to suit unique conditions. An example of this is the S280 split cabinet, which is a fully welded enclosure with two separate compartments. Applications include a lower compartment housing batteries, while the top section is populated with electronics. This type of configuration is suited to mining and rail sectors. Enclosures are fabricated from stainless steel, and where blasting is present, IP54 rated percussion vents can allow the cabinet to absorb shock while keeping debris out and assist in the integrity of equipment.
IP-rated cable gland entries between the two compartments allow connection between batteries and equipment without cross-contamination. Lower battery compartments can be vented to allow gases to escape to atmosphere. With appropriate exhaust filters, IP54 can be maintained.
For active cooling of electronics, MFB uses the Seifert Systems brand of German-engineered precision air conditioners (up to IP56), Peltier coolers (IP66) and thermal related products. MFB can assist in finding the appropriate cooling mechanism.
