The Fujikura FSM70R, available to rent from TechRentals, is equipped with a fixed v-groove for splicing single fibres or ribbon fibre up to 12 fibres.
A user-programmable, automated wind protector expedites the splicing process by automatically closing to initiate the splice process and opening upon splice completion. An auto-start ‘clamshell design’ tube heater applies heat to both sides of the splice protection sleeve, resulting in a 40 s shrink time for 12-fibre ribbon.
Other features include: 35 to 90x magnification; a detachable work table and arc-free calibration system; and a 40 s automated tube heater. The product also includes a CT-30 cleaver and thermal jacket stripper.
