Upskill in solar hybrid and off-grid systems

Those looking to fast-track their knowledge and experience of battery storage and smart energy systems can attend a four-day training course at the Smart Energy Lab near Healesville, Victoria.

Run by Glen Morris, Principal of SolarQuip, the residential Solar + Storage training courses will be held on the following dates:

  • 26 February–1 March
  • 9–12 April
  • 7–10 May

Working with a range of the latest battery and inverter models, attendees will gain a detailed understanding of how to size, configure, program and design both on-grid ‘solar hybrid’ systems (solar panels plus battery storage) and off-grid standalone power systems. The course is suitable for sales, managers, installers and electricians, and while no prior knowledge is required, a basic understanding of solar PV systems is beneficial.

No ‘live’ LV electrical work will be undertaken by unlicensed participants, so there is no electrical licensing prerequisite. All practical system training will be done on ELV (<120 VDC and <50 VAC) systems and pre-wired LV systems for non-electricians.

The course will be held at Smart Energy Lab located within Moora Moora Community Coop — a community consisting of 30 homes that has been living off-grid for over 45 years.

Attendees will be training on the latest equipment from a range of suppliers, including: Huawei Hybrid Inverter; Redback Technologies smart hybrid inverter; Enphase microinverter system; LG PV modules; Ecoult (UltraFlex battery); Schneider Electric (XW+, 600V MPPT, RL); and Selectronic (3-phase SP Pro + ABB inverters).
