Strengthening distribution and service capabilities
APS Industrial (APS) has recently acquired Bamford Engineering Products – Electrical, Automation & Instrumentation.
The acquisition follows a distribution partnership established in March 2018 between the two companies.
Since then, both APS and Bamford Engineering Products have worked together to successfully service the local Tasmanian industry with the full APS product portfolio led by Siemens, Weidmüller, Rittal, Belden and KATKO. This announcement signals the next step in its Tasmanian distribution and will see APS assume full ownership and branding of the Tasmanian operation.
“From the outset of the APS business, we have been steadfast in our commitment to establish ourselves as a leading partner for local industry with a true Australasian footprint. This began with our Australian mainland locations in all major capitals and was quickly followed by a partnership with Bamford Engineering Products in Tasmania. We then branched the operation into New Zealand via a strategic distribution partnership with Cuthbert Stewart,” said David Hegarty, Managing Director – APS Industrial.
“In the four years of our partnership with Bamford Engineering Products we have continued to develop, evolve and strengthen our capability to support local industry and projects. Today’s announcement affirms our long-term commitment in the region through increased investment in staff and building on existing stockholdings in the industrial electrical and automation business. It is our privilege to continue the reputation for service and support that Bamford Engineering Products has built since they commenced operations in 1938.”
Bamford Engineering Products has been committed to providing an experienced statewide, mobile sales force in Tasmania based in Hobart and Launceston. APS has confirmed that existing business leaders Paul Mason and Dion Flanagan will be joining the APS team.
The APS acquisition of Bamford Engineering Products will come into effect on 11 January 2022 and from that date onwards the business will operate as APS Industrial.
