Sparkies welcome Vic regional rail plan
The Electrical Trades Union has praised the Andrews Labor government’s commitment to spend almost $1.5 billion in new funding upgrading and extending regional rail lines in Victoria.
“The plan would create hundreds of jobs, including many for electricians and signal maintenance technicians,” said ETU Victorian Secretary Troy Gray.
“This is a good move by the Andrews Labor Government for jobs in the regions. We’ve got population growth right across the state — and it’s about time we started having the infrastructure investment to match it.”
The plan includes line and station upgrades, double-tracking and the groundwork for a new line to Torquay on the Surf Coast.
