General Cable acquires Gepco
General Cable Corporation has acquired Gepco International, a manufacturer of cabling for the professional broadcast and entertainment markets, with 2008 revenues of approximately US$46m.
Gepco offers a complete line of professional broadcast, entertainment and audiovisual cable; cable assemblies in both standard and custom configurations; interconnect and cable-related accessories; and a full line of optical fibre solutions.
The Gepco brand of broadcast cable products is well-known and respected in the professional broadcast industry. Gepco cabling solutions are a critical component to the professional broadcast industry’s continuing innovation in broadcast technologies such as the next generation super or ultra-high definition video.
Jay Lahman, Vice President and General Manager of Gepco says that through the acquisition, General Cable expects to leverage its global sales infrastructure with this brand of multimedia cables in markets all over the world: “We expect the market for these products to grow at roughly two times GDP in the US and somewhat higher internationally due to ongoing global analog to digital conversions.”
