Electrical Apprentice Awards 2008

The NECA Apprentice of the Year Awards for 2008 were announced on 13 November, recognising the most outstanding, young, high achievers in the electrotechnology industry. Apprentices in three categories were awarded for their excellence in work skills and commitment to the industry, with all having already been winners in their respective state finals.

James Tinslay, CEO of NECA National, said: “The judges were very impressed with the quality of the apprentices nominated for these awards this year. Their high level of technical skills and knowledge, commitment to ongoing learning and business intelligence is a credit to each of them as well as their employers and trainers.”

The winners are:

  • Commercial/Domestic:
    First place: James Strachan ( NT), employed by KK Electrical
    Second place: Bradley Griffith (Queensland), employed by Stowe Australia
    Third place: Thomas Enston (WA) employed by Electrical Group Training
     
  • Industrial Automation & Communications:
    First place: Daniel Thatcher (Victoria), employed by Mark Edmondson Electrical Services
    Second place: Cameron Zieba (NSW), employed by NECA Group Training
    Third place: Anthony Bartolo (Queensland), employed by Stowe Australia
     
  • Industrial:
    First place: Matthew McMullen (Tasmania), employed by Tastec Group Training
    Second place: Jonathan Welch (SA), employed by Peer Veet
    Third place: Dayne Brennan (Victoria), employed by Allen & O’Brien
