Clipsal moves into new facility
Clipsal Australia has embarked on a new era with the relocation of its head office and manufacturing facility to a $35 million, 30,000 m2 state-of-the-art facility at Gepps Cross, South Australia.
Clipsal's new home, which accommodates over 800 staff, includes administration, sales, marketing, manufacturing, logistics and support functions. The site also includes the offices of Schneider Electric Australia (Power and Control), TAC and APC as well as a number of shared services for the Schneider Electric Pacific Zone, such as finance, purchasing, human resources and research and development.
“The move has gone very smoothly,” said Damien Cummins, Executive General Manager Clipsal Australia. “The team in charge of the project has done an outstanding job to ensure a successful transition.
“We have created a very open plan yet quiet workspace. The materials we have used have excellent insulating properties to keep noise levels down. The work stations are custom designed and allow us flexibility to add new staff members or to relocate staff to new areas.”
The 20,000 m2 factory and warehouse combines logistics and manufacturing areas under one roof. This fit-for-purpose design features open space, energy efficient lighting and sound proofing. A key design consideration for the assembly, moulding and stores areas was lean manufacturing to optimise the workflow of people, products and equipment.
