Asbestos compliance codes review
Public comment is open on the proposed Managing Asbestos in Workplaces Compliance Code and Removing Asbestos in Workplaces Compliance Code that align with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017, which took effect on 18 June 2017, according to WorkSafe Victoria.
Employers, employees, other interested parties and members of the public are invited to make submissions responding to the proposed compliance codes, said WorkSafe Victoria in a statement.
Comments can be submitted until close of business on Wednesday, 6 December 2017. Submissions can be provided online, by email or by post. Detailed instructions on how to make a submission are available on WorkSafe’s consultation website.
WorkSafe will consider all feedback provided during public comment before finalising the compliance codes. It’s expected the proposed codes will take effect in 2018 and will support Victoria’s position in having the safest workplaces in Australia.
