The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) has voiced its support for the restoration of the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC).

“The allegations of criminality within elements of construction units, as disclosed in the media, highlight the importance of restoring the Australian Building and Construction Commission with all of its former powers,” said Ai Group Chief Executive Innes Willox.

“Those who break the law need to understand that they will be investigated and penalised.

“It is vital that this Bill is passed by parliament without any further delays. It is in the community’s interests that the rule of law prevails in the construction industry and that workplaces are productive and harmonious.”

Master Electricians Australia has also called for the reinstatement of the ABCC, urging the Senate not to obstruct the Bill.
