SEW-Eurodrive MoviPro SDC standard drive controller

Friday, 16 April, 2010 | Supplied by: SEW-Eurodrive Pty Ltd

The MoviPro SDC standard drive controller features a compact IP54-rated enclosure and provides an easy-to-use field-mountable drive solution for decentralised single-axis speed control and positioning applications.

The drive system streamlines installation by its field-mounting close to the gear-motors, thereby reducing ‘real estate’ requirements in the central control cabinet and reducing installation, material and maintenance costs associated with wiring inverters back to the central control cabinet.

The drive is offered in two physical sizes (4-7.5 kW and 11-15 kW) accommodating standard variable speed drive, as well as positioning and synchronous applications, such as those associated with high-tech conveyors, stackers and cranes. It is also equipped with incremental or absolute-encoder-feedback functionality and integrated brake control, negating the need for separate brake control equipment and voltage supplies.

The system doesn’t require extensive and time-consuming programming. Operators need only parameterise the preconfigured application modules such as field bus positioning, absolute positioning, positioning to a touch-probe and modulo positioning via the operating software.

An integrated communications gateway supports external fieldbus communication protocols, including Profibus, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP and Profinet for straightforward connection to supervisory PLCs and SCADA systems.
