Pump and fan drive

Thursday, 09 July, 2009 | Supplied by: ABB Australia Pty Ltd

The low-voltage AC drive is designed for fast installation and commissioning in pump and fan applications. Built-in PID controllers vary the drive in response to changes in pressure, flow or other external data, eliminating the need for an external PLC.

A pump and fan control (PFC) feature modulates the speed of the main pump or fan and brings any auxiliary pumps or fans online as necessary. An energy optimiser controls the drive’s internal fan to reduce losses and improve energy efficiency. Energy savings can be easily monitored using the built-in energy counter, which displays energy savings in kWh or local currencies.

The drive provides PFC and soft-pump control functions, supervision of inlet/outlet pressure conditions, soft start to reduce mechanical stress and water-hammer effect, detection of under- and over-load and pump cleaning sequence to prevent pump jamming.

The three-phase IP20-rated drive is available in 0.37 to 11 kW, 200/240 V and 0.37 to 22 kW, 380/480 V models. The interface has five digital and two analog inputs and digital and analog outputs. The drive also has embedded Modbus RTU with RS232 and RS485 connections.
